Self selection Sheffield

Can anyone tell me about the self selection process at sheffield in regards to accommodation and how it works ??
does this mean i can find my exact dorm mates and such and can i also do this if i want a single sex flat

I had to fill out the selection process a few years ago now, so I am not too sure if it is the exact same. When I did it, you had the option to pick the exact room you wanted in the specific flat and on a specific floor. Some of your flatmates may have a bio about themselves where they might talk about their course or hobbies and other interests. There are also filters you can apply like same-sex, quiet accommodation or LGBT+.

i’ve heard that these get released in batches, do we get notified when a new batch comes out ??
also what happens if the room you want the most has already been selected can you still put it down
