2025 Jay's GYG- the pathway to Medschool- (GCSE to A-levels)

Hey Everybody, I'm going to be utilizing this platform to keep me on track with my revision and hold myself accountable for the rest of this year. I started a lil late before discovering this amazing community, but I thought to myself- Why not give it a go?
Introduction:
I am a year 11 student and I have about 10 weeks till my GCSE- Yikes!
I take English, maths, separate sciences, biology, chemistry, and French. I am hoping to achieve 8s and 9s but I am happy with a few 7s sprinkled throughout.
I am most definitely looking forward to Prom and the Summer Holidays I can't wait to get this over with however I want to get as high grades as possible. Why? Because I want to become a doctor!:badger::heart:
Anyways, I hope you enjoy following me on this journey, I'll keep you updated. (Also, I have a youtube channel with a few study blogs on there, with hopefully more to come. The Channel Name is Jaydoeslife.)

(Just letting you know that my school wouldn't predict anyone 9s either) So far I am very happy with my predictions, I'm just anxious, I hope I can replicate these results or better, that would be fab!

*Update* the half term is officially over😭
what I've been up to:

Revision

Sleeping

Eating

literally nothing else

One thing I am going to say, is that I hope to never ever do that again. I've spent about 99% of my time sat at my desk revising and I am burnt out and tired even though I've had 8 hours of sleep and I'm pretty sure I am now Vitamin D deficient. I have learnt my lesson not to ever. EVER. Do this again. I am almost certain that around the half-way point I just stopped functioning, stopped learning. I was in a semi-conscious sleepy coma. I'm just praying I pull through these next weeks of mocks to see daylight again and that I do a somewhat decent job. I hope this next update will be more cheery! Yeah I would not wish this on my worst enemy. From now on I'm going to tone it down, I'll give myself the weekends off and maintain weekly revision on a smaller scale.

thank you! I'll probably ease off a bit after this and give me back my weekends but the stress of GCSE's being only 10 weeks away is crazy!

Plan for the next few months:

1.

Organise time with friends at the weekends (before April)

2.

Maintain past paper practice weekly as well as reviewing paper 1 content

3.

Focus more heavily on Paper 2/3s - fill out missing notes, do lots more past papers

4.

work on memory practice using techniques like blurting for quotes, key facts, equations and case studies

5.

I need to work on further maths cus im probs going to fail these upcoming mocks because I literally can't remember anything (I haven't revised it at all yet- I'll give it the weekend before the mocks)

Is anyone else planning on buying something nice after GCSEs if you get good grades or something -like a push present but for exams? I thought it might be quite nice to go shopping and get clothes for sixth form and things (since I live in my school uniform 5 days a week and my wardrobe literally only has summer clothes) Anyways let me know your thoughts!

Hi - welcome to GYG! Your predicted grades look great and I can see you are committed to your studies.

Yeah revising non-stop is not good, I do this a lot and always forgot that. I'd recommend splitting your day into blocks, like wake up and have food, do 1.5 hr of chem for example, take a 45 minute walk and grab a snack, then do 2hrs, lunch, then 2 hours then rest for the day/hangout with friends. Try and schedule one getting up and doing something active/social a day, energises the mind. Obviousoy that schedule would be for non school days.

On my results day I went out shopping with my friends, it's good to plan something for the day, no matter how it went it's important to celebrate your hard work.

A level choices look great for Med

Amazing choice of songs, haven't heard the second one (will listen now), first one is fab though.
