QMUL law employability prospects

I got a Law Offer from QMUL for sept 2025
I know its a good enough uni but im a little concerned as to whether i can get good enough training contracts. How is QMULs reputation to employers? And how good are the contracts that QMUL law students are receiving?

hi, i did research as i firmed my offer for law at qmul and thought that the employability is genuinely good! i’ve looked through linkedin members who went to qmul for law and seen quite a few with great training contracts in london including dentons and feildfisher. Also, i went to their offer holder day and they had programmes for work experience and placement years aswell as a lot of help from societies that go towards getting a training contract. another thing is being in london there’s a lot more opportunities to network - i turned down my durham offer as i thought there’s not as much to offer

Thank you so much for the reply and the insight!
Durham is usual ranked higher than qmul tho so why would u turn it down exactly?
Also what was ur lnat score if u dont mind me asking?

hi sorry i only just seen. i didn’t take the lnat and only got the durham offer from a summer school. i turned it down because i chose being in london over durham purely because durham has nothing to do and its in the middle of nowhere. i live a 10 min train away (newcastle) and have visited many times but just has nothing to do. i chose london because ik ill never be bored but also for me there’s a larger community of people who aren’t from private schools and there’s more diversity so i feel id get along with people better in qmul. also there’s a lot more law events in london than durham and figured it’d be easier if i just lived there

i didnt know u can get into an lnat uni without writing it thats nuts! But yeah i guess i can see why you chose london. But if durham is a big law school then id reckon alot of law event would happen right? I mean u were in durham was a there like very few law events happening during ur summer school?

I was surprised i could get an offer without taking the lnat too! ik that durhams law society has events always and makes sure people know where to go but ik that u have to pay aswell to be a part of it. another thing is that they’re mostly virtual events as firms don’t have as frequent events the way that the ones in lodnon do. there’s a few good firms like eversheds sutherland in newcastle, but not compared to london!

QMUL is underrated. It's a good place to study law.

Yeah ive heard is underrated ive never understood why that is tho?

LSE, UCL, and KCL are more central, perhaps better at marketing, and attract more international students. QMUL is strong in commercial law and human rights law. It has a postgraduate Commercial Law Centre in Lincoln's Inn Fields, where many of the staff are practitioners.

Mile End is semi-gentrified but mixed. It's not a den of iniquity, but it's not Belgravia either. There are lots of cheap eats, bars and so on, and it's a short tube ride to the centre of London.

QMUL is in the east end of London, not far from fashionable areas such as Shoreditch and Hoxton.
