Medicine at uni and gcses

Hi!
I did my gcses last year and got grade 5 in English language and grade 7 in English literature, however I want to study medicine at University and most universities ask for a grade 6 in English language. I was wondering whether I should resit English language or will the universities be able to look at my English literature grade instead?

Hi,
I had the same issue with a 5 in English Language and a 6 in Literature, I applied this year without resitting. There’s a list of universities who either look at literature instead or will accept any grade above a 4 in language. Unfortunately the list isn’t long so if you want more options resitting may be the best option (just check as some universities don’t accept resits)
Definitely do your research as this changes every year (I used https://www.medschools.ac.uk/studying-medicine/how-to-apply-to-medical-school-in-the-uk/entry-requirements ).
Hope this helps!
