GCSE Religious Studies AQA, need help with scripture for Buddhism

I’m about to have my Buddhism mock in a few days but I’m still a bit confused on how you apply scripture to Buddhism. I’m aware that you can use things like “The Buddha said..” but what can you exactly talk about there, like can you use his teachings as scripture? I also know you can use quotes from the Dalai Lama but what about quotes from other monks?

TLDR: How do you apply scripture in Buddhism, and what can be classified as scripture?

Hey! i do aqa buddhism as well and my teacher says that you can use the buddha's teachings as scripture, but they have to be specific (im not really sure of an example as i tend to use quotes more but maybe the outline of what the principle is according to the buddha, and how it links to whatever question ur answering). I only mostly use quotes from the buddha and the dalai lama but theres also thich nhat hanh (thats all i know really, but if you know of any more well known monks you can defo use those!) You can apply scripture in the 5 marker: where it usually says 'reference scripture or any other religious teachings'. Think of it as a PEEL paragraph - the quote is your evidence. Same goes for the 12 marker. Idk whether this was rlly helpful but good luck for ur mock let us know how it goes!! youve got this!
