Strathclyde tutorial attendance

Last semester i got an email about my tutorial attendance. I struggled first semester with my mental health and explained this. This semester I feel better but keep getting sick so have already missed 5. I had Covid so missed a weeks worth and had an appointment during another. I’m stressed about getting kicked out, is this something that happens. I complete all my assignments, tests, etc
Hi Anon,

I'm really sorry to hear you're going through so much at the moment. Just know that its very normal for people to have difficulties with their mental wellbeing whilst getting used to uni life and none of this is your fault.

I would strongly advise you to contact your personal tutor to explain to them fully what you've been dealing with and why you've had to miss tutorials. Here at Bath personal tutors are able to communicate with your lecturers and potentially arrange assignment extensions if you need them and help you make a plan of how to move forward - Strathclyde are bound to have something similar.

I'd also advise you to get in touch with your uni's student wellbeing services - here 🙂 - if your mental health continues to be a barrier to you enjoying your course and your uni life then they are likely to be able to arrange some counselling sessions for you if you feel you need them.

As for your question, I would say it is unlikely that you would be 'kicked out' for not attending tutorials as long as you are engaging and doing the work/assignments etc. However it would be really good for you to get back into going to them when you feel able as they can be a great supplement to your independent learning and a good way to meet others.

Stay strong, look after yourself, keep talking and I'm confident things will get better for you 🙂

Hoping some of this helps, best wishes
