affording second year housing lboro

is anyone else in the same situation of stressing over how they are going to afford housing for second year lmao i’m in loughborough rn and my loan is the absolute minimum despite my parents not being able to help me much. with a year long tenancy adds an extra £2k compared to halls which i barely afford now and i was just wondering what everyone else in a similar position are doing to help, otherwise it looks like i’ll be working all summer
Hi @ahollz,

You're definitely not alone in worrying about second-year housing costs, especially with the minimum loan.

You may wish to consider house-sharing with more people to lower rent, finding shorter contracts to avoid paying for months where you are at home, or taking on a part-time job during term time (which can also boost your CV!)

A summer job could also help, even if it’s just a few shifts a week. It’s worth checking if your uni offers financial support, bursaries, or advice on managing costs too.

I hope that this helps! Let us know your thoughts below 😊

Best wishes,
