Hi everyone, I am considering accepting either Bath or Cardiff for pharmacy but I am not sure which one. Cardiff will probably have a better nightlife than Bath but is the nightlife at Bath good or not. I’ve also heard a lot of Cardiff’s course has a lot of online and independent learning and was wondering if that was true and if so how much. I was also wondering what the usual day would be eg: 9-5. I would be so grateful if anyone could answer any of these questions.

Hi there,
First of all - Congratulations on getting an offer! I am a student here at Cardiff Uni, and I love it. In my opinion Cardiff is one of the best places to be a student, its a lovely city, with lots of offer and very walkable. There is a really good social scene and community here too, there's a huge variety of societies to get involved with.
I personally don't do pharmacy, a couple of my friends do and they seem to love it, I haven't seen them have to do more independent learning than I would think normal. To get some more detailed information, we have a platform called Unibuddy, where you can talk to our student, Holly, who is studying Pharmacy. Here is a link to the page.
I'd be more than happy to ask any more questions about uni life or living in Cardiff, but Holly might also be useful for specifics. I hope this helps!

Hi! So glad to hear you're considering Bath for pharmacy! As a 4th year pharmacy student at Bath Uni, hopefully I can provide some insight for you.
Bath’s nightlife is definitely smaller than Cardiff’s but there’s still plenty to do! We have several clubs and loads of pubs and bars. The SU also runs a lot of events and turns into a club on some nights, so there are things to do on campus as well as in the city. If you’re looking for a bigger night out, Bristol is under 15 minutes on the train and there’s buses running all night.
The majority of teaching at Bath is in person. We have an online lecture maybe once a month, normally when it’s run by a specialist who can’t be there in person.
Our days vary massively and could include a mix of lectures, seminars, labs, or clinical practice classes. We also spend a fair amount of time on placement so that’s a very different structure again. Throughout most of the course, we have had several contact hours a day. I would say the average day is 9-3 and would be 3 hours of lectures and 2 hours of seminars / labs / practice sessions. I really enjoy how varied the degree is, you definitely never get bored of it.
Both universities offer great pharmacy courses, so it depends on what suits your learning style and what you’re looking for for student life.
I’m happy to answer any other questions you have! Lauren, University of Bath.

How long does it normally take for Bath to respond because it’s been a while now and I sent off my UCAS mid December but still haven’t heard anything from them still

Hi there,
I know its frustrating waiting on unis' decisions and yes, Bath does tend to be on the late side because of the volume of applications we get and the thorough process we employ to assess everyone's fairly. Your unis have until the end of April to come back to you and so you could hear anytime between now and then. Just know that when you receive your decision or how long you're waiting has nothing to do with how strong your application is 🙂
