Univeristy degree options

I currently do psychology, sociology and biology a levels and I’m really struggling to find a course. Does anybody know what courses in university accept those subjects. I was interested in psychology, but apparently it is extremely competitive and hard to find a job so I’m not sure if I should do it. I’m also generally interested in the medical field like dental hygiene. If any of u have any suggestions please let me know! Even if it is unrelated

i do psychology sociology and economics currently and i applied for politics / law for uni. I guess it really depends on your interest. If you do have an interest in psychology, i recommend u to check out some uni websites and go on to more open days ! it would allow u to see what kind of uni u like, job wise , yes it is def harder to find a job as well as having a narrower career pat. , so you need to expect yourself to have at least a master degree in order to work professionally in psych industry. for dental hygiene, im not very familiar with it , but i recommend checking aspirational unis page on dental courses and look at their entry requirements.

Have a look at a range of different subjects on University websites - what interests you and why, and what are the required A level subjects? Then go to Open Days and listen to the subject presentations - are these subjects what you thought they were about, do they still appeal to you or is something else a better fit? This is how you gradually narrow down your ideas/choices.

Hi @Smartsara28 !

These are great A levels and open many doors for further study. You can definitely get into Edge Hill to study a degree in psychology with these. We also have wider options in this field such as psychology with clinical and health perspectives, educational psychology and sport and exercise psychology. Would any of these interest you?

What courses do you do as a whole with these subjects because I’m not sure if I want to do psychology

With A-levels in Psychology, Sociology, and Biology, you have a good mix of subjects that can lead to a variety of university courses. Here are some options:

Psychology & Related Fields

Psychology (BSc) Competitive but broad, leading to careers in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, HR, marketing, etc.

Criminology and Psychology Great if you're interested in crime and behavior.

Neuroscience More science-based but overlaps with psychology.

Forensic Psychology Focuses on criminal behavior and law.

Medical & Healthcare Fields

Dental Hygiene & Therapy Less competitive than dentistry but still a solid healthcare career.

Nursing (Adult/Child/Mental Health) Good job prospects in the NHS or private healthcare.

Midwifery If you’re interested in maternity care.

Physiotherapy Uses biology and psychology to help patients recover from injuries.

Occupational Therapy Helps people with disabilities regain independence.

Speech and Language Therapy Involves working with communication disorders.
