Medical work experience?

I have my year 12 work experience W/C 23rd-27th of June 2025 and Ive applied to the NHS as aim to hopefully become a cardiothoracic surgeon. I applied early december and was told i would hear back late january, early february (i haven't heard back).

I did my year 10 work experience in a hospital but i was basically stuck in a class room all week just getting talks and speeches from people and i dont want to do that again.

I had a meeting with one of my sixth form leads and he was saying that applying for vets can be good aswell as theyre easier to get into whilst still giving me some experience. However i have no clue how i would write an email asking for work experience.

I would love some feedback as im really quite stuck and my deadline is fast approacing.

Hi,
My advice would be email as many places as possible, explain who you are (name, school, year group and contact details), explain that you’re looking for work experience as you want to go into surgery and the dates you’re looking at.
A friend of mine did this and got into a couple of vet clinics and managed to see quite a few surgeries.
You could also try a local GP or pharmacy, I know it’s not surgery based which you would prefer but they tend to be easier to get into
Hope this helps!
