University of Glasgow: Student Apartments vs Firhill Court- which one do I pick??

I've got an offer for September 2025 for English Lit/ Film Studies. I went on the September Open Day in 2024 and the included accommodation visit to Queen Margaret Residence, and have since researched cheaper options as I'm looking to save as much as possible on accommodation. I've found Firhill and Student Apartments to be two potential options, but I have some questions regarding the respective facilities which I'd like answers to in order to make an informed choice.
Student Apartments:
- How easy is it to get a single occupancy room as a first year undergraduate?
- How many students per bathroom, and how many bathrooms per flat?
- How often are the bathrooms cleaned? Is this the students' responsibility or is there a site team?
- How many students per kitchen/ flat?

Firhill Court:
- How frequently does the shuttle bus run to and from the uni? Does it run at night?
- Is the ensuite a wetroom or does it have a shower tray?
- How far is it on foot to the university?

Both:
- Is it safe to walk alone at night as a girl in the area?
- Where are the nearest supermarkets and are they cheap?

The University of Glasgow has a number of halls of residence buildings, each offering a different room type. As a freshman, if you apply for a hall of residence, the University will guarantee you a place. However, on-campus halls of residence are very sought-after, and you may be allocated a shared room if there is no room available when you apply. It is recommended that you apply for your preferred room as early as possible to increase your chances of success. Most halls of residence have 3-8 people living in a suite. Generally, the bathrooms are cleaned by the students themselves, but kitchens and communal areas may be cleaned by the accommodation team.

Firhill Court is served by a shuttle bus service that runs every half an hour. You will need to check with your flat team for the exact timetable. The bathrooms in student flats are usually fitted with a power tray, and the flats are quite a distance from the University of Glasgow, taking around 26 minutes on foot.

A Tesco supermarket is a 10-minute walk from Firhill Court. The University of Glasgow, on the other hand, has a good selection of supermarkets, restaurants and bars nearby. Glasgow is a relatively safe city, but you still need to be safe when travelling at night.
