Which essay type should I choose: narrative or descriptive?

For igcse English Lang CAIE, I want to choose descriptive lang essay but my teacher said that it is more difficult then narrative essay?

I would recommend narrative writing as you are free to describe as well as telling your story, whereas in descriptive essays,it is quite limited as you cannot narrate, but only describe. So,if you choose narrative writing, you are still allowed to describe in your story! Choose whatever you feel is best for you

It depends on your writing style and preferences. I did IGCSE CAIE in 2023 and would recommend personally doing descriptive for essays because you have a higher chance of getting into the higher bands for AO2 if you use stronger sensory language and figurative language which descriptive writing is substantially better than narrative for. I also found descriptive easier as it prevented me from getting a weaker plot line which would result in a lower grade, as the narrative often would result in students rushing their ending or the introduction being too long. It does depend on whether you prefer to focus on particular scenes and features like the atmosphere or vivid descriptions, or if you prefer a more structured framework, and creating your own characters. I do agree with the other comment saying you should incorporate some narrative to form a structure but just make sure the main focus is on descriptive.
