Changing the conditions of a conditional offer

Good day,

I am applying to UK universities from South Africa. I have received a conditional offer from the University of Southampton.

However, there must have been a misunderstanding as my conditions are set on the IEB National Senior Certificate, which is only written by private schools in South Africa. I have gone to a public school and written the regular DBE National Senior Certificate. Both qualifications being more or less the same, as well as both being called a National Senior Certificate could have caused confusion.

I also have the condition of getting a 7 (A* Equivalent) in Advanced Mathematics, yet such a subject is not offered by public schools. Only a select few private schools offer this subject and the school must be registered to write the IEB exam.

I have sent an email to the University of Southampton's Admission Team to explain this context.

In the mean while I would like to know if it would even be possible for them to change the conditions of my offer, given this information?

And should I contact all my choices now to explain this context before they possibly make offers or is this most likely an isolated incident?

If its a genuine mistake about the qualification you are taking, the Uni will just issue you with a new offer.

Congratulations on receiving an offer from the University of Southampton! That is an amazing achievement, and I am really happy for you. We are love to welcome you here, and I completely understand how this situation might be stressful.

At this stage, I recommend waiting for the Admissions Team to get back to you. They will review your email and hopefully adjust your conditions accordingly. It’s possible they may change the requirements based on your qualifications, but ultimately, the decision is up to them.

For now, try not to worry too much they will be in touch with the next steps soon! If you have any other concerns, feel free to reach out.

Best wishes
