a level grades might not meet degree apprenticeship requirements, what do i do?

hey everyone! so if i apply to a degree apprenticeship after doing my a levels but my grades don't meet the requirements can i just make up a set of grades for the application then resit my a levels in the summer and hopefully achieve those grades? or will i have to use my actual a level grades and hope they accept my application even though my actual grades don't meet the requirements?

edit: this was a stupid ass post and i have no idea how to delete it pls don't flame me in the replies 🙏

Your first idea is bonkers, is quite likely they will ask to see your certificate as part of the recruitment process. Not to mention the dishonesty, which would also be a sackable offence if it came to light later. It’s certainly worth a punt with your current grades and you can always reapply after your resits

That's a terrible idea, under no circumstances should you be dishonest about your grades like that, they won't just take your word for it

yeah after posting i realised how stupid of a question that was and i can't see an option to delete my post 😭
i just resorted to this idea bcs i'm in year 13 right now and i'm alr planning on taking a gap year and if i have to resit my exams then i'll end up applying for the degree apprenticeship in 2026 autumn instead of 2025 autumn and start the degree apprenticeship in 2027 september instead of 2026 september. that's two years i'm out of education. do i have any other options? can i do a level 4 apprenticeship and progress to a level 6?

I don’t understand the process you are working with. If it’s predicted grades they will probably want something from an academic referee. And the offer of a place may be dependent on your actual results too. I recommend to go and see a careers advisor for some guidance

They will want to check with your school to make sure you're predicted grades are correct and if you apply with achieved grades, they will want your certificate

sorry! it is a bit difficult to understand. basically i am sitting my a levels this summer and then taking a gap year. in that gap year i want to apply for a degree apprenticeship. i'm assuming when i apply for the degree apprenticeship they will want my level 3 qualifications e.g. my a level grades. i'm asking can i put predicted grades on there with a note saying this is what i hope to achieve after resitting or do i have to apply with my real grades?

so if i don't go to sixth form anymore i can't put predicted grades and have to put my actual grades?

Yes, unless you can still get your sixth form to give you predicted grades for your retakes

But won’t you have your actual grades by the time you are applying? Anyway I don’t think it’s credible to have predicted grades for resits when you haven’t sat for the first time. Work hard now, see how you do and plan your next steps from there

yes i will have my actual grades by the time i apply but i'm not sure they'll meet the requirements. i'm trying to focus on my a levels right now but it's just so difficult to bcs i don't have a specific plan for the future

ahhh makes sense thank you! i'm talking to this guy who's doing a degree apprenticeship right now and he's telling me he lied abt his predicted grades and his employers didn't even check! all they wanted was his certificates after he had completed his a levels. he also said he didn't go through ucas to apply. how on earth did he manage that?

you don't go through ucas to apply to degree apprenticeships. you go through company websites usually, applying directly to a company. the company do usually ask for references (workplaces and school/college). Most likely they will contact these if they can (they did for me so yes they actually do contact them). For the application process you will have to declare the a levels that you have. If you do end up resitting them you could also put your new predicted grades on there too, or explain to the company that you are resitting and then give them your new predicted grades. I mean it is up to the employer whether they check the predicted grades with your school but if they do find out you lied likely they'll just not offer you the job at all bc lying is just not good.

also something to note is that degree apprenticeships can have lower grade requirements than uni. From my experience a lot asked for Bs and Cs, with few asking for As. Might be worth just having a look at potential grade requirements before just accepting a resit so then you can focus your revision to achieve these grades first time.
