Does Warwick usually take this long?

Should I be worried if I sent off my UCAS mid December and I still haven’t heard back from Warwick? I applied for their law course, and 2 of my friends have been accepted for the same course (albeit they sent theirs before mine) but I’m slightly worried. I meet their gcse requirements and predicted grades.

In recent years, Warwick have only made offers to 7 in 20 applicants to their Law LLB programme (source), so simply meeting the minimum requirements for entry to the course is no guarantee of an offer.

How do your friends' predicted grades compare with yours? What about your personal statement vs. theirs? And your/their school reference? Contextual status? Mitigating circumstances?

Unless you have exactly the same profile as another applicant, knowing that they've received an offer isn't particularly helpful.

For courses which receive far more applications than they have places, universities often make offers in "waves". So they'll make offers to their "best" applicants and then wait so see if those applicants select other universities as their firm and insurance choices. If they do, then Warwick can offer that place to someone else. But rather than do this one at a time, they'll wait for a period of time (perhaps a few weeks) before deciding how many additional offers they can make. It wouldn't surprise me if this is what Warwick are doing for Law LLB. You just have to be patient, I'm afraid. :frown:

Hi, I'm not studying Law at Warwick but Warwick did take a really long time to get back to me last year. Since starting the course I found out some people heard months before me, it's super random, but hopefully they will get back to you soon try not to worry, you probably will have a place, Warwick is known for slow communication

Hi thank you for replying! This was very insightful. My friends and I definitely don’t have the exact same profile, but I would say that they are similar. The only big difference I can think of is my gcse grades were lower than theirs, but I thought Warwick doesn’t put that much emphasis on gcses? Anyways, hopefully I hear back soon because it’s the not knowing that’s a bit stressful. Thank you again!

If it's any consolation, my son, who has applied to do Maths at Warwick and submitted his UCAS application on in Oct 2024, still hasn't heard either! So frustrating! I suppose no news is good news, though, right?
