David Starkey writes his early 21st C history today!

Incisive comments, ahead of most commentators IMO
Scathing of many politicians.

But as the old saying goes , "today's heresy is tomorrow's true doctrine"

Does he help you understand what's going on?

Why do you want that?

It is not realistic to expect people to sit through an hour long video of a man known for his bombast. If you want us to understand what is going on, you are going to have to offer a precis.

Nonsense, students regularly sit through hour long lectures, this one you can pause and reflect, treat as "bite-size" if you prefer. Why should anyone accept my summation?

He's pretty racist, so no, not really.

The difference is sitting through lectures on the biochemistry of lipogenesis got me a framed certificate and well paid graduate job.

If you wish to stimulate debate, you are going to have put in some effort yourself rather than expect those of us who lead busy lives to watch hour long videos.

Posting links to long videos rather than actually making points or presenting arguments seems to be a common trait amongst those with a particular socio-political bent.

When it comes to Starkey I cannot find fault or add to what he says, I thought maybe someone else could.

Seems to me Jeffrey Sachs s echoing and augmenting his analysis, a little more diplomatically.

He complains about government "of The Blob, by The Blob, for The Blob," where UK politicians are morons.
About Americas actions on the Empire and how they've been screwing about since then.
He expresses concern over how the UK projects national values abroad while suppressing them domestically and also comments on how the armed forces are acting bigger than it's capabilities.

In otherwords a load of common sense comments against the mongs in power with some fleshed out arguments to back them up.

You initially said the video contains...
"Incisive comments, ahead of most commentators IMO"
So that would be a good place to start.

Hmm. Doesn't seem very impressive from here. Does he suffer from some sort of condition (other than his racism)?

Is government by the "blob" good. It looks worse than what Osho said about democracy.
What's racist about Mr Starkey?

How about

Historian David Starkey has said using comments denounced as racist during a discussion about slavery were "a bad mistake" for which he is "very sorry".
He apologised "unreservedly" for the offence his "deplorably inflammatory" words had caused, saying he had spoken "with awful clumsiness".
The academic and author told an online show that slavery was not genocide as "so many damn blacks" had survived.

Government by the blob is an empty soundbite but its use is deliberate.

For 14 years, the government not only failed to reform but failed to even attempt to reform the civil service and other areas of the public sector. They also starved the public sector of infrastructure investment. Of course the public sector is going to be ineffective, inefficient and directionless. The likes of HMRC and NHSBSA are using decrepit IT systems developed in the 90s.

The reason why those in the Conservative establishment push the sound bite of government by the blob is to distract us from their own failings. In reality, those responsible for how badly government is functioning are Conservatives and those who voted for them. On other words, Britain has the inept government we collectively voted for.

It’s on par with the architects of Brexit and those who voted for it blaming everyone but themselves for the shitshow that Brexit was.

No idea what "the blob" is, let alone how it would form a government.

"What's racist about Mr Starkey?"
All the racist stuff he says. Many academic institutions, museums, etc have cut ties with him because of it.

Here's another one. He claimed the Rochdale sex abuse ring perpetrators were "acting within their cultural norm - entrenched in the foothills of the Punjab or wherever it is".

That doesn't disprove there is a blob and a problem one at that.
As for Brexit it looks like it's been deliberately done badly.

I still haven't heard anything properly racist whether it's that or the out of context quote on "slaves".

I did find some funny clips like this while searching.
