Change of course with ou.

Hi all, I am after some advice please.

Totally new to studying!
I have recently started a course in psychology but its not for me sadly.
Whilst i have enjoyed working through some of it. I want to be more nursing based, health and social etc.
~Has anyone ever changed courses with OU and how did you go about this please? I feel really guilty- like I am letting people down by wanting to change (including letting myself down) but it just isn't for me. I've always worked in the health and social care background and thought psychology would be a good shout but instead it is a little too much.
Any help is so appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi!
I originally applied for psychology when I first went to uni. I knew after about 2 months in that I did not want to carry on with it and wanted to change degrees however at that point it was too late for me to swap. I felt the same as you do- I was guilty and anxious of what people would say and think about me wanting to change course or defer. I was reluctant to do or say anything about how I felt for a while and this made it so much worse!! I eventually met with my personal tutor and explained how I felt and this made me feel a lot better as she helped me make a decision and pointed me in the right directions. I decided to leave my psychology course at the university around January time and waited to re-apply to a different university the following August. Though this may be different to what you wish to do, I just wanted to give an example of how making a decision that might make you nervous or feel guilty is often the best thing to do! I was so much happier on my new course and was so relieved I had decided to change. Don't feel embarrassed as it is your life so do what makes you happy! 🙂

Good luck and hope all goes well!

Best thing to do is contact the OU directly. Most courses are reasonably flexible. "Changing your qualification
