How to prepare for a creative media course in September?

As the title says, I’m doing a creative media course in September, this is something I am very new to so just wondering how to prepare myself? September is a long time away so just curious if anyone has any advice

That’s so exciting congrats on starting your creative media journey! 🎉

I’m Nally, a second-year student majoring in Media, Communication and Sociology with Quantitative Methods at City St George’s, University of London.

Don’t worry about being new to it! A lot of us started with little to no experience too.
To prepare, you could try exploring different media platforms (like blogs, podcasts, or social media platforms), just to get a feel for how media shapes our everyday life. What really helps is just staying curious watch films, pay attention to ads or social media content you like, and think about why they work.

If you’re into it, maybe try playing around with free tools like Canva or CapCut just for fun but no pressure at all. Enjoy your summer and come in with an open mind. You’ll learn so much once the course starts, and you’re definitely not expected to know everything beforehand 😊
