May not get anyone under that specific scope. But I’m a PM and I’ve ran PM degree apprenticeship ACs. Happy to answer any questions.

The first stage of preparation should always be to identify the value of your experience. Doesn’t have to be work. Hobbies, schooling, sports, volunteering, and general life are all valid for evidencing transferable skills.

You’re not expected to evidence your competence as a project manager in a degree apprenticeship interview / AC. You will however, need to de-risk your potential to become an affective PM in the eyes of the hiring manager.

I’d be looking for evidenced examples of passion for the specific roll and maybe industry, determination, proactiveness, intuitiveness, problem solving, appropriate escalation of issues or risks, and communication by organisation of complex or confusing actions. I’d also want to see examples of where you’ve gone above and beyond in driving your own development.

For the specific industry I work in, I’d also want to see examples of how you would handle patients/people over processes, and any examples of where you’ve promoted an inclusive environment.

That makes sense! so just using my experience and how those transferrable skills can benefit me in my future PM role? I also wonder how the actual assessment centre works and what happens in the assessment centre?

Yes, what you’ve done, what you had to apply to be successful, what you gained from it, what problems occurred and what you did to resolve, and what you can (or are doing) to improve to be more successful.

I typically include a 1-2-1 interview, presentation, group exercise, and technical exercise. There’s also Q&As with current and past apprentices, and tours of the site.

I can’t say. Though the AC changes every time, I see candidates posting on here.

It’s within the pharma / med tech industry.

Is there anything specific you look for during interviews and group exercises.
