Difference Between Design Narrative and A Portfolio of Evidence

We have been asked to create a project's design narrative and a portfolio of evidence. What are the differences between these two? Will I explain in depth the reasoning behind my choices in my portfolio of evidence, or is that only for the narrative? Thanks!
