St Cuths Accommodation Allocation

I was just wondering how accommodation allocation works at St Cuths in Durham Uni . I really like the look of it and I want to put it as my first choice (overall vibe of the college is really attractive), but the only thing that I'm unsure about is the allocation of students into catered and non-catered halls. Is it random or do we get to pick? Personally, i'd prefer to be in a catered college for my first year.

Any information would be helpful!

Hiya,

I was allocated Cuths as well as the self catered accommodation and I had asked to be in the self catered accommodation. After allocation, I was sent a preference form and was asked to fill in preferences (room, self catered or catered, pet peeves, preferences on who I'd like to live with) and was assigned an ensuite self catered room based off that. It's not random, and it is based off that preference form. It's definitely not guaranteed but most people who ask to be in a specific accommodation tend to get assigned there but it does seriously depend on the number of students and how competitive it is (not necessarily room type but accommodation type). 🙂

Hope this helps!
