When to drop out of first year?

Hello, I’m thinking of dropping out after my first year but I’m scared of SFE stating I’m overpaying

When would you say the best time is to officially drop out?

I’m seeing may & then I’m seeing August. Which one is it to avoid overpaying?

I plan on redoing my first year + going to a different uni by the way.

Hi,

Please contact Student Finance England directly about this as individual circumstances will impact the repayments. https://www.gov.uk/contact-student-finance-england/y - fill in the form and you will be provided with the relevant contact details 🙂

If you officially withdraw from your uni in mid-late August, you won't be required to repay any of your maintenance loan immediately. It will be added to the balance on your account (together with the tuition fee payments) and will only be repayable under your standard plan conditions (i.e. after you graduate and are earning above the threshold).

If you withdraw in May and your final maintenance loan instalment was paid in April, then you will be required to repay immediately the proportion of that instalment that was intended to cover you from that date you withdraw until late August (maintenance loans are calculated to cover you through the holidays).
