Which uni is best for IR/Politics

Hii, does anyone knows which uni is best for IR/Politics, I have applied to Lancaster, Belfast, Aber, Aberdeen and Cardiff, at the moment I only have an offer in Lancaster and Aber, I am waiting in case I get any news from Belfast to go with conflict studies. The thing is that I don't know which university I like the most, they all seem fantastic and the courses are quite similar, does anyone know which one is better? or any recommendation, I can't go to the open days of any of them except Lancaster, please help me :frown:

Hi @Serena Von Ada
Congratulations on your offers for politics and IR! I would recommend looking in detail in the modules you could expect to study on each course at each university and see if there any difference between them and which you would prefer studying.
Whilst I don't study politics/IR so cant comment on the course, i can say the wider support at Lancaster has been great in terms of careers and wellbeing support. There's lots of careers support available at Lancaster ranging from help finding placement years, summer internships, part time work and graduate jobs, with a range of events throughout the year ranging from large careers fairs, workshops covering everything from assessment centers to linked in, and individual 1 to 1 support on career guidance.
Also, I would recommend seeing if there are any online offer holder events for the universities you cant visit, to give you a bit more of an insight into the university.
Hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. Congratulations on your offers so far and hope you hear back from your other choices soon! I thought I'd come in with some general advice which I hope is helpful.

I would recommend having a look around this site for students of each of the unis you have offers from to see what the general consensus is. You can see of there's anyone from these unis who you can ask about them.
It's also worth thinking about the cities and what appeals to you. Do you want to be close to or far away from home, do you want to be in a big or small city, are there things/places in that city that you're interested in or will be good for any hobbies you have; those sorts of factors should definitely be on your mind as well as the actual courses of each of the universities. These are all in quite different parts of the UK, and so even if you're not able to visit all of them having a think about where you might want to be for the next few years would be worth doing. Getting in touch with the unis to ask questions about the places can be good, and do let us know if you have any questions about Aberdeen!
Then it would be worth having a look on each of our websites to see what appeals to you about the courses eg. course content, projects you will get to do through your degree, prospects upon graduation, that sort of thing. It's hard to say who is 'best' other than rankings, but having a look at this sort of stuff can help you picture yourself in the course and find details on the degrees which you might find especially exciting.

I hope this information has been useful and all the best with coming to a decision!
