Labelled as an international student at the Royal College of Art (RCA)! Help!

So I got an offer to study an MA at the Royal College of Art, but I have been labelled as an international student even though I am a home student. I reached out to the admissions team on 17th February, as soon as I received the offer letter. I received a response on 18th February asking me to fill out a fee status assessment form and submit certain important documents as proof. I did everything they asked for, yet I have received no response since 18th February. I have sent two separate emails since with further proof, with hope that they respond. No response. I also called RCA, but the woman on the phone said there was nothing she could do.

I am beginning to panic as my deadline to accept my place is 10th March. I worked so hard to get into RCA and it really breaks my heart that this silly issue could ruin my hard work. Please what should I do?

Hello Ellie_Keen,

I'm so sorry that you are having this issue, especially as it is now becoming closer to the deadline for acceptance of the offer of a place. I'm not able to offer you any prescriptive advice or a definite answer of what you need to do, but I can give my suggestions of what I would do. Obviously it is an admin error and one consolation is that it isn't an issue over which course you have been accepted on etc, but it still needs sorting. My first step would be to email absolutely everyone in the contacts list for admissions. Looking at the website on the Enquiries page, I would send emails (red flag them as being of importance) to the admissions again, the info email address again, as well as student support. If you know the site of your course, you could email the reception here too. If you are able, can you go into the applicant portal and send something to the RCA that way? There is a contact button but I couldn't see anything on that as I don't have any login details, but it could be worth looking at it. If you haven't already, I'd send a message to the international student team also, it might be worth seeing if they could help?

I really hope you manage to sort this out, but the main thing is not to worry too much, you still have plenty of time, to accept the offer and perhaps it may be possible to accept the offer despite the RCA thinking you are international, while you are still waiting for a resolution? I hope I've managed to be a bit of help, good luck with it.

Best wishes

Hey so if you weren’t born in the UK, that’s normal, you need to fill out a specific form that comes with the offer about challenging the status and it asks for some documentations and bills, you should hear back a week or ten days after.
