Changing mind about deferred application

Hi! So I applied through UCAS as a deferred applicant, so entry in 2026. However, I realise now that my plans for my gap year will probably not work and I want to start University now. I got into my top choice (durham) and now I would rather just start in 2025. However, as I applied deferred, I don't know if its possible to ask to just start this year....im guessing it isn't......Does anyone know?

It’s a very common question and a simple yes/no answer from the uni. No need to be apprehensive about asking.

It’s hard to say as it depends how many offers they’ve made for this years course. I would say that for many unis they wouldn’t have a problem with it but I can’t guarantee anything.
