LIPA auditions

So I've got an audition with LIPA in April and I've got a few questions about that for anyone who has done it before

Are they chill or are they like pretty strict

Also, is the music theory test hard? What is the main thing I can expect from it?

Is there anything else that should be mentioned that I forgot to ask?

Thank you guys, pls help out a gal in need 😂

Hey! I auditioned in feb and have since been offered a place on music. Its a very chilled out day and they def make an effort to make you feel comfortable. The music theory is basically grade 5 theory with the addition of some chords and modes qs but its all multiple choice, I don't think it makes or breaks whether you get a place but instead is used as a benchmark for classes when you get there. in the interview they like you to emphasise performance + industry experience, but I think the main thing is how good your performance is. LMK if u have any other qs

Thank you sm! Would you say the test was like hard? I haven't got my grade 5 yet but I do aim to get it by Sept. Also are you thinking of accepting the offer if you don't mind me asking?

I do music alevel and am classically trained so probs not the best person to advise on how hard it was - if you do grade theory practice papers the questions are very similar and learn scales and modes and their tone/semitone order. i found it pretty easy but that's possibly cos I've spent the past 2 years doing it. I've accepted my offer and sorted accom cos its one of the best places in the country to do it and I personally really vibed with it.

What course are you applying for and when is your audition? We are still awaiting outcomes. For theory you need to look at chords (major/ minor/diminished triads) and what notes woild be im these, modes/scales and intervals. Hope that helps 🙏Good luck 🍀

Plenty of time to prepare yet. It's my daughter who applied for popular, contemporary and commercial.
