Help with A-levels as a private candidate, obtaining predicteds and a-level CS ocr.

Hello everyone,

I need some advice on my situation, as im not sure what to do.

I had to leave sixth form, had a major emergency and i was due to sit a-level maths and a-level compsci this summer. However since im no longer in sixth form, id have to sit it privately, however im not sure how computer science works as a private candidate. im a proficient programmer so i can get the NEA done very quickly if need be, however is there anyway for me to sit the a-level CS exam in the summer? iv heard something about verifiying my NEA and im confused on what to do.

Can i just pay to sit the exams this summer with this place:
https://www.tutorsandexams.uk/

i think on here i need to submit my NEA by the 15th of march, which is fine for me but im not sure about the specifics for Compsci a-level OCR in general. so any advice would be appreciated. im looking to just sit the exam and hand in my nea for marks, no tutoring.

Thank you.

Somebody will need to mark your NEA. This is usually your teacher. This means somebody at the exam centre would need to mark it. Yes it's possible, but you're also cutting it very very very fine by leaving it this late. The NEA is more than coding, writing it up arguably takes up more time. I've had a look at the fee document and you're already going to be paying late fees at this late stage.

Call the exam centre first thing on Monday and ask how you're going to do this.

I'm also moving this to the A'level section.

At this point it's going to be too late to do the NEA, you have to work with one of Tutors and Exams approved providers who actually authenticate and mark the NEA for you before transferring it to Tutors and Exams - they need to spend a certain amount of time with you beforehand/marking assignments etc. so they know its your work that you're submitting. Your best option is probably switching to the Cambridge International A Level which has no NEA component.

Also worth noting Tutors and Exams' standard entry deadline was earlier this month and late fees are now applied to any more entrieS.
