Hi there,

The childcare grant needs to be used with a recognised Childcare Provider. These are:

Nurseries

Childminders

Children's Centres

Holiday Play Centres

Schools

Foster Carers (cannot be their own foster child

The Childcare Provider must meet one or more of the following criteria:

Be an OFSTED registered childcare provider (this can include a relative who meets the criteria and is providing childcare away from the childs home)

Provided by Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) - Wales Only

Provided by carers approved under the Childcare Approval Scheme (CAS)

Run by a school or local authority (e.g., out of hours clubs on school premises)

Provided by a domiciliary care worker registered by the National Care Standards Commission in the childs home

Provided by an approved foster carer - this does not apply to the child being fostered by them

This does not include:

Childcare provided by the students partner, even if the partner is a registered or approved childcare provider

Childcare provided by a childs relative in the childs home

Childcare provided by a relative away from the childs home and providing care for this child only

Compulsory education or boarding charges (for example school tuition fees or boarding fees)

Thanks,
Claire
