Kings graduate Medicine

Hello all,

I am wanting to apply to medicine in 2026- I have shortlisted a couple of university graduate and undergrad programmes- specially if anyone knows of anyone or themselves whether kings have accepted a paramedic science degree for their GEM course. I also will have attained an MSc from kings even though this doesn’t hold any value as far as I’m aware.

I was also looking at QMUL but appears they have a very strict criteria or additional A-Levels of BB at Bio and Chem - which I won’t be repeating.

Hi it’s great to hear you’re aiming for medicine! For King’s GEM, they’re generally open to healthcare-related degrees, so your Paramedic Science background could work, but it’s worth checking directly with their admissions team to be sure. Your MSc from King’s, while not weighted, still shows your academic ability and commitment, so don’t underestimate it!
For QMUL, their strict A-Level requirements (BB in Bio and Chem) can be tricky if you’re not retaking, but there are other GEM programmes with more flexible entry criteria. Consider Warwick, Swansea, or Nottingham—they often value healthcare experience and diverse backgrounds. Also, look into Southampton and Newcastle, as they tend to be more lenient with academic requirements if you have strong experience.
Focus on gaining relevant work experience (if you haven’t already) and crafting a personal statement that highlights your passion and unique paramedic background. You’ve got a strong foundation—keep pushing forward!
Good luck—you’ve got this!

Thanks very much for this advice. I have contacted them. So let’s hope it’s all good news.
I spoke to the admissions team, they suggested a degree to be accepted on GEM course should cover 2/3 biology or chemistry - they didn't explicitly say yes or no
