Applying for Student Finance and Accomodation

My school helped with actually applying to unis, but I’m a bit lost when it come to student finance.

HELP IS NEEDED PLEASE

When can I apply, especially for Oxford Brookes or Bath Spa. - the course will be Journalism
Are there separate days for both unis?

Also is the SFE website crashing for anyone else, I need to know it’s not just a me problem.
Any extra tips on the applications or bursaries would be useful.

The SFE website is down for maintenance this weekend and student finance applications for Sep 2025 entry haven't opened yet. They are expected to open mid-March but the exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Even if you haven't decided which uni to firm yet, put down your best guess on your SFE application. It can be changed easily later.

Unis have different systems for accommodation applications. Search through the accommodation section on uni websites to find out when you can apply.

Hi there!

I’m a current student at Oxford Brookes, and you’re not alone - student finance can be super confusing at first! You can apply for Student Finance through the government website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-student-finance.
You only fill in one application, and you just list the university and course you’re planning to attend (e.g. Journalism at Oxford Brookes). There’s no separate deadline for each uni - it’s all done centrally. If you change your mind later, you can log in and update it.

At Brookes, there are bursaries depending on your household income, funds you can apply for once you’ve enrolled, and a team of advisors who can help with budgeting and finance questions. You can find more info here: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/students/finance.
