Chances of getting into accounting/finance in Uni

I am currently in year 12, studying Maths, Chemistry, Biology and French. I originally chose these A-levels in hopes to study medicine at a Russel group University. I wanted to be a cardiologist but have recently lost a passion for it as it would take 16 years of studying. My backup plan was being an accountant and now I’m thinking that’s the path I should take. Am I likely to be accepted into UCL,KCL,Imperial or a Russel group uni to do accounting if I’m not studying economics or business for eg? I also don’t know my predicted grades yet but I’m hoping for an A in maths.
Any advice?

You usually need A level Maths for A&F, although some Unis will accept a high GCSE Maths grade instead.
You don't need Econ, or BS.

Dont sweat it, accountancy is not a very popular course so there will be lots of Russell Group unis willing to take you. If you are in year 12 look at the clearing this year and you will see loads of RG unis in clearing looking for students for their finance and accounting courses.

You know you can get into accountancy with any quants based course (biochem, maths, engineering, etc) so dont feel you have to study accountancy at uni. Sure an accountancy degree will mean you would be exempted from some of the professional exams but in order to become a management or chartered accountant you would need to complete 3 years of study and exams regardless.

Spead your wings and consider something you really want to study at uni - I know lots of people who have then gone on to become accountants after graduating with a quants-based degree.

You might want to look at Flying Start degrees and apprenticeships for accounting careers as well as university courses.
Your subjects are absolutely fine and its not a particularly hard course to get onto so long as you have the grades.
You won't get into Imperial or UCL as they don't offer accounting degrees.
