Calculating Maintenance Loan entitlement

Hi there,

I have been accepted on to a pre-reg allied health professionals masters course starting sept 2025. It is my 3rd HE qualification but after lots of double checking I believe I am eligible for the maintenance loan and tuition fee loan.
>> Will the maintenance loan be calculated using just my husbands income - who I live wth, for clarity - as I will not be working whilst I do the masters?Or do I have to include my current income in the amount also, even though this money will of course vanish when I start the course!

I have 2 children, 1 of which is pre school age.
>>I believe I can also apply for parental support and childcare grant, and an NHS training grant?

Many thanks!

Hi Ruby,

If you can confirm the course name, length and university you will be studying with, we can check the funding for you.

Thanks,
Claire

As the course is at a uni in England, you would be able to apply to the NHS Learning Support Fund for the annual training grant of £5k and parental suppr (£2k).

Hi there. We don't take a students earned income into account. We will require your partners income if you are looking to apply for any child grants and the higher Maintenance Loan. Thanks, Leah.

That's great thanks, this is really appreciated - I am hoping to apply for the childcare grant, however you are not eligible if you get a postgraduate loan. Am I right in thinking the course I am applying for , pre-reg healthcare masters, is funded though the undergraduate route, so I will still be eligible? Many thanks

Hi Ruby, yes, that is correct, These courses are completed through the undergraduate funding route, but you walk out with a Postgraduate qualification at the end. Thanks, Stephen.
