Hi there,

I'm Ilya, a current Cyber Security student at DMU and a student ambassador. I have been living in DMU's accommodation for 3 years now, and I would love to share some of my personal insights with you. Please don't take it as University's official opinion, just my own

Firstly, I advise you to decide if you are looking for a studio room, or a en-suite rooms. Studio rooms are generally more expensive, but you get perfect privacy, your own kitchen and no flatmates. En-suite rooms are also great, but you have to share your kitchen usually with 4 other people. I have stayed in en-suite rooms for 3 years, and my personal favourite is Newarke Point, where I stayed during summer. It is literally on campus, and 10 minutes from city centre as well. I also lived in Liberty Park, which has a great courtyard and common areas with table football, pool tables, tennis, gym, etc.

If you are looking for budget options, please have a look at DMU managed halls. New Wharf for example features a great view on River Soar. All our halls are great, each of them featuring some specific advantages, like being located on campus itself for Newarke Point for example. Please feel free to browse your options here: https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/accommodation/index.aspx

Let me know if you have any questions,
Ilya

Hiya!

Just adding to Ilya's message 🙂

Have you had a chance to attend an Open Day at DMU? It’s a great opportunity to explore the campus, meet students and staff, and check out our facilities. Plus, all the accommodation listed on the DMU website is open for guided tours, so you can see the facilities firsthand and ask any questions you may have. If you are interested, our next Open Day is Saturday 29th March

In addition to DMU accommodation, nearby student housing options like CODE, Lumis, and Student Roost also typically offer tours in general but especially on Open Days (you may wish to double check with the company itself though). You’ll also get to meet student ambassadors who can share their own experiences and answer any questions you have.

Feel free to ask anything here, or you can chat directly with me or other students like Ilya on the Ambassador Platform

I hope this also helps
