Hi Marcus,
Congrats on reaching the final stage of your PwC graduate tax interview! Here are some tips to help you prepare:

1. Understand PwC’s Core Values
PwC’s purpose and values are key to their culture. Expect questions that assess how you align with their principles, such as:

Act with integrity

Make a difference

Care & work together Try to incorporate these values into your answers, especially in competency-based questions.

2. Prepare for Competency-Based Questions
PwC typically uses strength-based and behavioural interview questions. Expect questions around:

Teamwork: A time you collaborated effectively.

Problem-solving: How you tackled a challenge or made a decision.

Resilience: Handling setbacks and learning from mistakes.

Leadership & Initiative: Times you took ownership of a task.

Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers clearly.
3. Commercial Awareness & Industry Knowledge

Even though this is a graduate role, PwC will expect you to have a basic understanding of:

UK tax system trends (e.g., corporate tax changes, digital taxation).

How businesses are affected by tax regulations.

PwC’s tax services and how they support clients.

You don’t need expert knowledge, but showing interest in tax and awareness of industry changes will make you stand out.

4. Be Ready for a Case Study or Scenario-Based Question
They may present you with a hypothetical client situation and ask how you’d approach it. Focus on:

Identifying key issues.

Explaining your thought process.

Balancing compliance with commercial impact.

5. Why PwC & Why Tax?
A key question will be:

Why do you want to work in tax? (Demonstrate interest in problem-solving, advising clients, and understanding tax policy).

Why PwC over other firms? (Mention their training, global reputation, or people-first culture).

6. Engage & Ask Questions
Show enthusiasm by asking thoughtful questions like:

What are the biggest challenges for new graduates in this role?

What development opportunities are available in PwC’s tax team?

7. Professionalism & Confidence

Dress smartly (business casual at minimum).

Be clear and structured in your answers.

If it's virtual, test your tech setup and maintain eye contact via the camera.

Final Tips

Stay calm they want to see your thought process, not just a perfect answer.

Be yourself cultural fit matters at PwC.

Follow up with a thank-you email after the interview.

Best of luck! Let us know how it goes. 🚀
