St Andews vs Bath Msc Economics

Hello,
I am an offer holder for both of these amazing universities.
St Andrews is Econ and Finance whilst Bath is econ.I love both but im categorised as international. Is prestige of St.Andrews worth the 10k more.
I am not the one for nightlife and enjoy the idea of having excellent education and future prospect both of these universities are a great fit for me.
If you have been to one or both what is it like?
What opens the most doors for my future?

Why is it 10k more? I'm going to St Andrews to do a Msc in mathematics. It's the same price in England and Scotland. St Andrews is just beautiful and ticks every box for me but if you want more nightlife, go to Bath.

Im even more indecisive since i sent this as;
St Andrews has offered me international fees whilst it is my dream university it means its 30k
Bath has given me a scholarship and is down to 22k
Uni of Bristol is 16k as im a domestic student.

Is it really worth paying that to go to St Andrews in your opinion? Im mainly looking my Masters that gives me the highest chances in IB.

Let's be honest, unless you're paying it out of your own pocket, go where you want to go. If paying it yourself- go Bristol.

Hi there,

I would always advise you to go for the uni which is offering you the course you like the look of best, as this is what will be the springboard to your future and what you'll be focussing on for the next year. If cost is a priority then Bristol seems a sensible choice as this is also a very good uni, but if cost is not such a worry for you then I would firm whichever out of Bath or St Andrews ticks the most boxes for you in terms of...

What are the course contents and do they interest you?

Which campus made you feel more at home?

Where in the country do you want to live? What's the cost of living like and do you feel happy there?

I would not focus too much in rankings, and I would say that for something like Econ there is not a huge difference between the two as both are in the Top 10. On this basis I would not pay an extra £8k for a little more prestige.

Have you considered writing a Bath VS St Andrews pros and cons list to help visualise your thoughts, and talking to your loved ones about your decision?

Hoping this helps and sorry for posting a little late -

St Andrews MSc Econ offer holder here.

If you received a home student offer from Bristol, you’ll likely be classed as a home student at St Andrews too. I was initially offered an international fee place, but I requested a reassessment, filled out a form, and successfully had my fee status changed in a couple of hours. I’m not sure about your specific situation, but it might be worth emailing them to ask.

I attended their postgraduate visiting event last week and spoke with a prof, who mentioned that the Econ programme is the smallest master's course in the Business School due to its selectivity, with an expected class size of just 11–12 students. In contrast, Finance is their largest, with around 40 students.

I'm not too familiar with the career prospects, but what the prof said was that St Andrews has a close-knit community because of its smaller scale. Many alumni are on executive committees and are often keen to support fellow graduates. Companies would sometimes offer fast-track opportunities that let St Andrews students skip certain application stages.

Hope this gives you a bit of context! Of course, the info is based on what one prof said, so there might be some bias. I don’t know much about Bath or Bristol apart from the fact that they’re both solid unis, so I can’t really compare. Just like you, St Andrews is my dream uni - I enjoy its vibe and got friends there as well.
