Aeronautical Engineering at University

Hey,

I currently do a level 2 and level 3 course combined in engineering in college and I want to do aeronautical engineering at University of Loughborough but I’m not sure how to start working towards that in a sense of reading, practice and maths/physics etc. I got a 7 at GCSE maths and a 8/7 on combined higher science at GCSE. I want to do further reading and practice to get me in the swing of uni as my college is extremely casual and poor at giving challenging work but I don’t know where to start as I’m not an awfully academic person but I really want a degree in aeronautical engineering so any help welcomed

First thing to evaluate is if your current qualifications are suitable. Do you have A-level mathematics? Without this you may need to look at alternative paths, potentially a foundation or access course.
Additionally it’s important to pool a broader range of universities, Loughborough has a great engineering faculty but you should consider and visit a variety.
As for the best preparation for university. A-level mathematics, particularly the pure mathematics, mechanics & physics is great background for aerospace engineering.
