I'm some subjects yes, but in others no.

Improving your Physics grade from a 4 to a 7 bodes for being able to achieve an 8 or a 9 in the actual GCSE. The same is true for English Literature and Business, both of which you've improved from a 5 to a 7. And Spanish has been at a 9 for a while.

However, a few subjects have seen no improvement (Mathematics, Art & Design) and others are currently at a 4 (Chemistry, Religious Education), even though much improved on where they were. I think it's unreasonable to expect to be getting 8s and 9s in those. :frown:

Do you need all 8s and 9s for some reason? Or are just aiming high?

hey, thanks so much for your input. I will be posting my results for my second set of mocks when my results come. your opinion was really helpful and has rlly helped set some realistic expectations.

mainly, I am aiming quite high, but I only necessarily NEED higher grades in my chosen A level subjects (options being Physics English Lit and Maths)

I sat the Cambridge iGCSE for maths in Early November after mocks (in which got a B* 6/7 equivalent)I’m resitting this June as I need an A (8 equivalent) for a level maths.
For physics I need either 7-6-6 in triple or 7-7 in combined higher, and for English lit I need both 7s in language and literature.

thanks sm again for ur ideas they’ve really helped.

Hey @juggnfnss,

Whilst I would agree with DataVenia that it might be a challenge to secure 8s/9s in some subjects (such as Chemistry and R.E.), it's important to applaud yourself on how much you have already improved so far. Moving up from a U to a 4 in Chemistry - i.e. moving up to a passing grade - is a significant achievement, and you've managed to jump quite a few grades overall. Well done! 🙂

With effective revision, I think it is realistic to move up to 8s/9s in your three chosen A-Level subjects (Maths, Physics and English Lit), especially considering you're currently sitting on strong 6s/7s in all of them.

Best of luck with the results from your second set of mocks!
