Funding for degree after doing hnd

Good morning, around 10 years ago I went to uni on a 4 year course in business accounting and finance. After year 3, I left (due to rapidly declining MH, though at the time this wasn’t well documented other than a few extenuating circs to repeat exams and in house uni counselling)
I left with a HND.

I would now like to complete a top up - to degree level. I would need to do a part time course (to balance with life) and was wondering if I would be able to get assistance from student finance. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi there,

Can you confirm the course and university you're looking to study now? When will this be starting?
Do you have any other previous study other than the 3 years you have mentioned?

Thanks,
Claire

Morning Claire, thank you for your reply!

So in terms of what and where I am going to be studying now - I am not fully concluded on that.

But for example, there are top up Bsc business/finance courses at Middlesex university, Greenwich university, Coventry university. These are the courses that I am looking to apply for, starting September/December this year. (Just wanting to do a bit more research on the financing side before setting myself to something specific and being disappointed. I will be looking at a part time course, so likely over 2 years and will definitely be a top up from my HND to degree level.)

I used an advanced learner loan to do a level 5 CIPD distance learning course over COVID. I believe this has been paid back in full from my working contributions. No further study or financing.

Thank you for your help thus far.

Hi there. Your funding can depend on the course, so this is why we ask for the course details to give the most accurate information. Can you confirm if your previous study was full time or part time? Thanks, Leah.

Hi Leah, thank you for your reply. I understand - at the moment it is not confirmed but will definitely be a business degree.

Previous study towards my HND was full time

Thank you

Hi there, as you are planning to study your course as a top up course after the preliminary qualification (HND), funding may be available for this, however this can only be confirmed upon review of the application. We do not know the exact date of when the Part Time undergraduate applications for the 2025/26 academic year will launch, but would expect them to open around May. You can follow us on social media such as Facebook or Twitter as soon as the applications are launched we would let you know on this platform. Thanks, Stephen.
