I want to go to a London Uni

I want to go to one of the London Unis for economics, mainly LSE and Imperial but I would also love to go to Cambridge also because their course for economics is the second best in the country after LSE. I’m going into yr 12 next year. What could I do from now so I have a better chance of getting in?

Well, you need to be aiming for top grades to have a realistic chance of an offer. Although LSE's entry requirements for Economics are A*AA, the most common grades of accepted applicants are A*A*A*, with only 1 in 5 applicants receiving an offer in recent years (source). In fact, their own web page (here) says that they had 3731 applications for 225 places in 2024 (at 17:1 ratio, approximately). So, above all else, focus on grades.

If you have time after that, focus on your wider knowledge of economics - i.e. above what is covered by the A level specification. Take a look at LSE Personal Statement guidance (here) and start thinking about how you would answer the questions posed and how you could demonstrate your passion for Economics.

Yup. That would come under my suggestion that, if you have time after ensuring that your grades are the best they can be, you "focus on your wider knowledge of economics - i.e. above what is covered by the A level specification". Books, videos, podcasts, journals - anything you have time for.
