history gcse aqa mindmaps

how do you create mindmaps?
ive been really wanting to make them for revision but i cannot seem to make one which is effective.
im mainly confused on how you should lay one out, such as what would you write as the subtopics.
For example, how would you begin to create mindmaps for germany 1890-1945

If you dont find them effective maybe dont do them, it might be more beneficial to do a timeline instead of like a spider diagram, it would also help you know the dates and orders better

If you're y11 like me, from what we've been told at school it's too late to be drawing mindmaps now. I personally have a massive whiteboard, read the textbook chapter and try to remember as much as possible, then write out what I can remember, and after that I fill in the gaps with the textbook (this is called blurting). The issue with mindmaps is that people tend to use them for the 'aesthetic' and make them all beautiful with fancy highlighters etc. which wastes time. However if you're doing them super quickly/ plainly you should just put the topic in the middle and write the (say, four) subtopics for the chapter in each corner of the page. Hope this is useful
