I guess the best way is to put yourself in situations where you learn Japanese directly or indirectly, including watching anime, TV shows, or movies. You definitely shouldn't force it.

Hi there!

Learning Japanese can definitely feel overwhelming at first, but don’t worry—you’re not alone! I study Arabic, and at the beginning, I found it incredibly difficult too. The early stages are often the hardest because everything is new, from the script to the grammar. But with consistent practice, it does get easier.

One of the best things you can do is immerse yourself in the language as much as possible—listen to native speakers, mimic their pronunciation, and try to use Japanese daily, even if it’s just simple sentences. SOAS has a great guide on learning languages effectively, with advice from experienced teachers. You might find it really useful: How to learn a language effectively: Advice from SOAS teachers

Keep going—it gets easier with time and practice!

Learning a language is a marathon rather than a sprint and breakthroughs do arrive that previously you never thought possible. I learned a bit of Japanese for work and being back to square one with writing a language was very challenging. Trust in the aptitude that has taken down a language path already and keep the faith that it will become easier as studies progress
