21st birthday

my daughter is turning 21 at the end of the next month but i have no idea what to do and she does not know either. I thinks this is a big birthday and should be celebrated more than the usual birthdays but she is not really an outgoing person and does not drink so im not sure what to do.

the only idea she has so far is money but not sure how much money to give or if there is a better gift to give her. im also not sure what to do as an outing as i want to be memorable. any advice would be appreciated

Hi there,

Happy early birthday to your daughter!

I felt similar for my 21st as I didn't really want a huge party, but still wanted to do something special. Something you might like to do, which I've done for previous birthdays, is go somewhere for afternoon tea. Some people may hate this idea, but I love getting dressed up a bit and heading out for some food. And I feel like afternoon tea is still a casual activity but it feels more special as it's not something you typically do day to day.

Another suggestion would be to do an experience or an activity - this could be her gift perhaps. You can usually get experience vouchers online for a range of activities from driving experiences to crafty days out. Maybe worth a look, even if it's just for some inspiration. The activity might not be your cup of tea, but my mum and I recently did a flower arranging workshop together for her birthday and we got to keep the wreaths we made afterwards. Possibly not the right activity for a 21st, but it's an example of something to try.

I hope you get something figured out, but I'm sure your daughter will have a fab birthday no matter what you get up to. 🙂

I didn't personally do anything super major for my 21st. Honestly I can't remember it well. I know my mam took me to a restaurant for lunch on the day itself but the memory is fuzzy, and hubby (then fiance) and I went to a nightclub either the weekend before or after - I forget which.

It's nice that you want to do something special for your daughter's 21st though.
My most memorable and special birthday was going to Paris for my 40th. Why not take her there? 🙂
