offer holder days

I’m going to a few offer holder days over the next few weeks and i was just wondering if people normally take their parents- my mums driving to the unis with me but we don’t know whether it’s best for her to come into the talks with me or for me to go in alone

Its totally up to you. Parents are welcome to attend the talks - and one tip is to get them to write notes while you just listen. Some Unis offer parents alternative talks as part of the day, but if you would rather that it was just you and you want to send them off shopping etc, that absolutely fine as well.

there’s usually like a separate thing for the parents to go along to. I’m not sure, it’s dependent upon the university, the department and their plan. Up to you and your mother really what you want to do; if you’re curious to know if there is something for the parents or you just what to know more I would recommend emailing the university.

There are usually parents that go along with the offer holders, though, if you’re worried about that .

Have fun!!

Hi there,

You would usually have separate talks for parents and students. It's totally normal to come with parents

Hi there,

Its perfectly fine to bring parents or friends with you if you like! I think whether they have different talks to go to or are allowed into the talks or not is dependent on the University though.

At LJMU, guests are allowed in the subject sessions and even join in on the practical activities (if they are included with the session)! However, as the DMU rep said, some Universities will have separate talks for parents/guests - it might be worth checking before you attend!

Hope you find your offer holder days helpful!

Hey,

It's completely up to you!

At Essex Business School, we offer a separate session for parents where they can learn more about the local area, security, funding, and other important information. This session takes place while you engage in a challenge with other prospective students. You are welcome to bring your parents or guardians, but you will also have the opportunity to interact with other students on your own.

Some students do come with parents, like mentioned in previous replies there is often a separate talk that parents and carers can attend. Might be worth asking to see the programme for the events you are are attending so you can see what talks are available. - JD
Hi everyone,

Here at Bath people can choose whether to come alone or with a guest. Often our offer holder days have separate sessions for parents as well as networking sessions with for both parents and students to talk to current students and staff over coffee and biscuits, so parents are always welcome to come if you wish them to!

I hope this helps, best of luck and I hope you find your days helpful and enjoyable 🙂
