Dental Therapy or software engineering??

Hi, I applied for dentistry and got all rejection and I really want a career where I am constantly communicating with people and problem solving. After the rejections I am thinking about dental therapy but I only see it as a stepping stone towards dentistry. As it is a 3 years course and then I have to another 5 years for dentistry. Alternatively I am weirdly interested in software engineering as I just find it very interesting and like how I can progress in this career and the endless possibilties of stuff I could do in the future. Now the question is do I keep applying for dental therapy through UCAS extra or apply for software engineering? Would really be helpful to see what other people think. Thanks.

Do you feel like your work experience and personal statement really show your passion for healthcare? If so, and you’re still set on dentistry, going for dental therapy could be a worth it. But if you’re not sure or worried about another rejection, and you’re genuinely interested in software engineering, maybe it’s worth exploring that path. Maybe take a gap year and try and get work experience for software engineering

Have you checked if any dental therapy courses are still open to applications - it is a very competitive course to get on to. Also, have you looked into how to finance a graduate dental course or a second undergrad?

@binkybowsee. Well since leaving high school I have only looked into healthcare and my work experience is also only health care related. However looking on the other side (software engineering) it sort of give me the genuine satisfaction of thinking that I will get to do all the coding and working in teams and getting to do projects. I feel that the only reason I am interested in it because I don’t want to do a gap and year and I know that my chances of getting into dentistry or dental therapy through ucas extra are very slim.
