1.
Give yourself time to settle into your new routine!
2.
Explore campus - go to your lectures, explore the campus, check out the cafes and visit friends on campus.
3.
Look at societies/clubs you might want to join - perhaps find something you're already interested in or try something new.
4.
Establish your identity - take time to self-reflect - what parts of your course do you enjoy? where might you want to be in the future? what are your goals for the next 3-4 years?
5.
Learn to cook! 5 recipes that are budget friendly that you enjoy - this page by Save the Student is full of good inspo!
6.
Work out how to manage your time - no one is expecting you to know exactly how to navigate time management at uni level yet - just experiment with how you like to learn and when you like to do your work - this can be in the morning, afternoon, evening, even the night if you wish! Try out a few different routines and see which works best for you.
7.
Look into part time work! Perhaps as a student ambassador? These roles are flexible, a lot of fun, a great way to meet people and the work will top up your budget for the month.
8.
Get out in the world! Explore your new city, check out a few places to eat and drink with friends, find the supermarket, make the most out of your SU and go to events on campus - all these are great ways of meeting new people.
9.
Work hard but have fun! Uni is obviously a place for doing your studies but there is so much more on offer than that. Being at uni will open up so many doors for you - just grab every opportunity thrown your way and see where it leads you!

Start practicing some meals that you can easily cook while you are at uni! This really helped me as I had some things that I knew how to cook really easily so after a long day at uni or work, you have something good to make.
•
Set a budget. If you work out how much loan you will get and if you have a part time job how much you will earn, how much your rent/bills will be and then you can see how much you will have left to spend! Try and do this before you get to uni so you don't end up spending all of your money in freshers week!
•
Join some social media groups - there will often be groups on Facebook for your course, your halls and just your uni in general so it's worth joining these!
•
Think about joining a society. These are great ways of meeting lots of new people and getting to do something you enjoy at the same time. Have a look at the freshers fair if there is any that you might be interested in and then maybe go to a trial session and join one!
•
Make sure you are attending your lectures and seminars as they are very important and you will meet people here as well as learning what you need to for your course!
•
Talk to your tutors if you need any help as they are there to help you and its good to get into this habit from the start so you are up to date with what you need to be doing.
•
Try and keep up to date with all of your work and start your assignments early as you will thank yourself for this later on down the line!
•
Explore the campus and the new place you are living in! Go out for lunch, coffee, go shopping and just enjoy where you are living!
•
Still keep in touch with friends from home! You could also go and visit them at uni, or they could come and visit you too!
