Student Finance Change in Income

I’ve had atleast 15% drop in income as my mum has been out of work for multiple reasons for about 3 months now. I was wondering if SFE only amend the amount for future payments to me or if they pay me the difference between my threshold and the 1 or 2 lower. just wondering as my amount now doesn’t cover rent so by the next rent is due my mum most likely won’t have a job so it will be very difficult to pay
