Should I put uni of York or uni of law as my insurance

Hello I have recently received five offers for LLB law. Uni of Leeds is my firm choice and I have been offered AAB there.

I am stuck between York who have offered ABB and uni of law who have offered BBB. But I need help.
I uni of law actually a good uni? Plus York is expensive so I don’t really know which to choose.

Purely my personal view not based on rigorous comparison of the 2 unis.

I would insure York.

In previous years ULaw had Clearing places but not York. So tactically speaking ULaw could be a "double insurance".

If York is expensive for you, you have your answer.

'Uni of Law' is an office block - if you want a conventional Uni experience with all the usual campus facilities, choose York - Living on campus

I agree. York is a university based on scholarship, with an attractive campus. UoL is a qualifications mill run purely for profit.

Hello there!

Congratulations on getting offers from these great Universities! It is a great achievement 😇

For your insurance choice, it would be best to familiarise yourself with the following things:

1.

Try to speak to more students from ULaw and Uni of York on Uni-buddy - every university has this chat function to connect with students from those places and check out how the University is and what is the student life like in those cities?

2.

Leeds is an amazing city to live in, it has the best student life and such amazing experiences. York is also a beautiful place to be in and is much smaller and close knit in comparison to Leeds. I have been in Leeds for 4 years now and I love it just as much because I love cities a lot. So, do make your choice according to what your preference is!

3.

I am doing a post graduate course at ULaw in Leeds, so I am unsure about UG courses like LLB. However, the support at ULaw is amazing. They are partnered with top leading firms in Leeds and other cities, so there are great events and networking opportunities available.

4.

Course fees and living expenses are also things to consider - however, they depend on many factors so I am unable to suggest specific details.

These are just a few things that I would have done and considered in deciding the perfect insurance choice for me! Talking to students from the Universities is the best option and I would recommend giving it a go!

I hope I helped, and all the best for your journey!!

Congratulations on your offers Aorn! 😁
And I understand your current predicament, I was in a similar situation, but as you can probably tell I chose Ulaw in the end.
So...Is Ulaw a good Uni? Do I regret it?

Well, The University of Law is one of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education and has a strong reputation for its practical approach to teaching law. It focuses on preparing students for legal practice through interactive, skills-based learning, and many students find that it helps them develop a solid foundation for a legal career via online large groups and small group workshops.
That being said, your choice should depend on what you're looking for in a university experience. If you prefer a traditional university setting with a broad student community and a more academic approach to law, York might be the better option despite the higher costs. However, if you're interested in a more practical, career-focused legal education with strong connections to law firms, the University of Law could be a great choice.
Since cost is a concern, it's worth looking into scholarships, bursaries, and cost-of-living factors for both universities

Some of the career opportunities ULaw can offer you is its long-standing and firm connections with leading law firms such as Clifford Chance, connections with Alumni with various training contracts, careers service such as cv refining and interview preperation, a vast, VAST acessibility to various pro-career choices such as competitions and Pro Bono via Ulaw's ELITE website, which has its own section for employability.
This was really helpful for someone like me who didn't know where to start, Ulaw acted as a spring board, as it had already organised the majority of opportunities available.

Hope this helped!
And regardless of what choice you make, you should be proud of yourself for being able to choose between 2 fantastic universities for your insurance option.

Hi!

Congrats on all your offers! There are lots of things to consider, like if you can see yourself living in the place and the course content/teaching style.

Have you been to any offer holder visit days? They can be a really good way of seeing the uni, the accommodation and chatting to staff and students 🙂
