Melatonin supplements.

Has anyone tried any?

After two days without sleep (well maybe 2h a day total) I decided to order some.
I really need to sleep properly. I have a very busy schedule the next few months and may even have to fly abroad. I am currently in a not-so-good mental stage, despite actually having a good life, like nothing really has to bother me that much. I don't want anti-depressants in this stage because I feel like it will be an over-kill in my current situation, but I really don't want it to get any worse. I thought that managing my sleep will help better.
So found this thingy and it looks worth a try.

melatonin doesn't work for me. you don't need antidepressants for insomnia either, there are hypnotics like zolpidem or benzos to choose from

Insomnia in my case is a symptom of a larger problem antidepressants should help with. I feel it is an overkill and I want to solve the symptom that bothers me the most and let everything else satle on it's own.
I don't want to wait for a visit to a shrink to get prescription meds, I want to solve it in less than a few months long waiting list.

Thanks for the input though

Some of these gummies have sugar inside and other substances, but you can give it a try. There is a brand called pure encapsulations. Their products are supposed to be made entirely by only the necessary composition without additives or any other substances. If you want to keep yourself awake during the second part of the day, you can also try replacing coffee with sugar for some short lasting boosts of energy. Sugar energy effects don't linger for so many hours as coffee energy effects do which is good if your want to sleep at nights. Also try to work our during the week to exhaust any pent-up anxiety in your body.

Sugar alone makes me hyper for very short period of time and than a big decline in energy than I need another sugar portion and it repeats. (ADHD). Energy drinks are lasting much longer. Coffee I can sleep for two hours and only than it kicks in for a few hours (3-5 hours).
I will look into pure encapsulations. Hope it qualifies as a supplement and not medication.

I work out a lot. I try to run everyday. I did two day break because the last time I put too much pressure on my leg.

Thanks a lot!

mayby try an old gen antihistamine - diphenhydramine/benadryl, it makes some people sleepy and you can get it over the counter

I've had varying success with melatonin - sometimes it helps, a lot of the time it doesn't, but if I'm having issues sleeping, that's the first thing I will try. If it doesn't help, I try promethazine. If that doesn't help, I step up to zopiclone and promethazine. And if that doesn't work, I just have to wait it out until I crash.

I tend to find that small doses work better than large ones - 2-3mg seems the optimal dose for me.

That's what I was thinking about meds, trying the weaker one first.

A little update.

They don't work well for me.
At first it looked like they do. If I take them every day once a day (at night) I seem to sleep better. However, if I have any episode of insomnia from any cause, they not only not working, they make things worse, and the more I take the worse it becomes.

I finished the two types I bought and the week I was without them was terrible, so I'm investigating weather they are 'addictive' or not.

Check this out. The punchline at about 3:30 is nuts!

That sounds more like rebound and tolerance than actual addiction, especially if it gets worse the more you take. So yeah, I’d stop chasing it nightly and treat it like an occasional tool. In my case, I used Sleep pills from Performance Lab for a few weeks and if I took it every single night it started feeling less reliable, so I backed off and did it more like 2 or 3 nights a week. The week off can feel brutal because your body is used to being nudged, but it usually settles after a bit.
