rejection

So I applied to the foundation programme early February in KCL. I’m wondering if, despite me meeting entry requirements, they could reject me based on competitiveness or is that only for those applying first year? I’m really anxious because a few people told me my personal statement wasn’t that strong.

Are you referring to the King's International Foundation Programme?

Yes, despite you meeting the minimum requirements they may have more applicants than they have available places, and so may have to turn away applicants. I can't find any admissions statistics, but I suspect they're forced to turn away a lot of applicants to this programme.

They say here that, "We usually make a decision on your application within eight weeks." So hopefully you'll hear by the end of March.

So even if I met above their entry requirement by a lot there’s still a chance of rejection?

Correct. I'm still not 100% sure to what course you're you're referring to, as you've simply called it "the foundation programme". However, if you're referring to the King's International Foundation Programme (often abbreviated to IFP) then, according to the spreadsheet attached to this Freedom of Information request, for 2022/2023 entry they received 3276 applications and made 2026 offers - an offer rate of about 62%.

Having said that, your original posts said "despite me meeting entry requirements" whilst you now say "I met above their entry requirement by a lot". The stronger your application is, the greater your chance of an offer. Obviously your grades are a significant part of your applications, so hopefully they'll overlook the fact that your "personal statement wasn’t that strong" given your strong grades. :crossedf:
