Probation Service Officer Recruitment Process

Hi everyone,

I recently had my probation service officer interview on 18th Feb still waiting to hear back from them as I have emailed them and they have gotten back to me saying it is still a waiting process, I know I did well but the way I am so nervous of receiving a rejection letter.

I was wondering if anyone applying or have applied before, how did the process go for you?

And what can you do after if I was to receive that rejection letter not saying to be mentally prepared to receive one.

Hey! I’m in the same position - had an interview 19th Feb. Have you heard back yet?

I was told it would take around 2 weeks to hear back usually - no way to tell though!

I have just got a message... Before we can progress your application, we need to confirm your ID and Right to Work documents... We were unable to verify your documents on your first attempt, you will receive an email from TrustID and have a second attempt to complete this check. The concern is my share code indicates that I am a student. However, I have completed my programme, making me eligible to commence full-time employment. I am in the process of applying for a Graduate visa, my current student visa expires on April 30, 2025. When asked if I am a student during the verification process, should I confirm "Yes"?

Ah I think I’d ask for advice from the HMPPS recruitment team before re-submitting anything just in case. Does sound like you just need to confirm you’re classed as a student for the time being, as your current documents show this!

Yes, I was told it may take longer. They do recruitment campaigns nationally instead of locally which is why I believe the process takes a while.

I did pass the assessment process last year but was put on a reserve list, wasn’t given a location I’d be able to travel to so I applied again for 2 different posts that were more local to me. There may not be a vacancy in that area at that time which is interesting! Just a waiting game

I applied for Watford so I’d assume if it’s this long and still
no update, I don’t know if I should get in touch with the recruitment team. But you know when you gotta be hopeful

So you’ve been successful at interview but you are waiting for a vacancy in the area. You would have been scored based on the behaviours/strengths criteria so the vacancies would be offered to higher scorers first  well done!

I do wonder when will the vacancies become available and is anyone else here on the reserve list?

I had my interview on the 21st February. I received an email on the 3rd April saying I was successful at my interview and placed on the reserve list. And on the 14th April (today), I received a provisional offer.

Wishing you all the best !
